By tradition, the January meeting of Amesbury Evening Wi is organised by the Members, whilst the standing Committee retire to the kitchen to produce delicious refreshments.
President for the evening, Anne Rasey welcomed everyone and wished all a Happy New Year. Showing that in keeping with this being the Olympic year, we have hit 2012 running, organisers reported exciting plans ahead for those with an interest in Craft, Gardening, Produce, Lunching and Skittles, the ladies for the Whist team taking a short break before the new season starts.
Following the business, members and visitors rattled their brains to answer the questions set by Guest Quizmaster Phil Monk. Clear winners were Charlie’s Angels. Thank you Phil for an entertaining evening, Wiltshire Youth Athletics is to benefit from your exertions.
At the close of the meeting, Anne announced the date of the next meeting as February 9th at 7.30pm when the Guest Speaker will be Mr Davies on the subject of The History of the NAAFI. New Members are always welcome.

Amesbury Evening WI was formed in November 1971 (with the help of the then Amesbury Afternoon WI) to cater for the number of working women unable to attend afternoon meetings. We now have members of all ages. Our membership at this years AGM was 55. We are a part of the Wiltshire Federation of Womens Institutes and a member of the Stonehenge Group.
We are a very active W.I. with the following groups activities: Produce, Skittles, Whist, Crafts and Gardening.
