Amesbury Stroke Club was formed in 1988 to provide a meeting place where Stroke victims could get together and enjoy a variety of activities in a happy and friendly atmosphere.
The club meets weekly at the Methodist Church Hall in the High Street on a
Tuesday afternoon at 2.00pm and transport
can usually be provided for those
who otherwise would not be able to
attend.
It is largely self
supporting and receives no
financial help from the State,
however over the years local
Organisations and individuals have
been generous with donations and
this has enabled the club to buy
games and equipment and to enjoy
several outings each year at a
reduced cost to members.
A small Committee of helpers and
Stroke patients arrange a
programme of Speakers, slide
shows and other activities designed
to interest and stimulate, and all
members are encouraged to take
part in the running of the club. At
the end of each meeting there is
time to chat and exchange news
over a cup of tea and home made
cakes, making a happy end to the
afternoon.
